Requirements for products
Products are awarded the DGNB Navigator Label if
- an Environmental Product Declaration, EPD for short ("Type III Declaration" according to DIN EN ISO 14025 and prepared according to DIN EN 15804+A1 or DIN EN 15804+A2) is available.
- ALL product characteristics according to the DGNB criteria are filled in (non-relevant information is indicated as "not relevant" and undeclared information as "not declared"). The information "not declared" or empty fields cannot be claimed in this context.
- ALL quality levels are assessed.
Important: The DGNB Navigator Label does not stand for a product certification. A product is always to be seen in the context of the building in which it is used. Products can therefore hardly be divided into the categories "good" and "bad". If, for example, a product made from sustainable raw materials has to be sent around the globe once before it is used, it may make more sense to look for local alternatives. Of course, this is always provided that the products comply with the norms and legal standards in Germany and the EU.
In the future, the validity of the DGNB Navigator Label will be limited to three years. If your products no longer meet the above requirements, they must be updated to retain the DGNB Navigator Label at the latest after the three years have expired. After a renewed review by the DGNB, the validity will be extended for another three years. All products that have a DGNB Navigator Label at the time of the changeover (01.09.2023) will also be valid for a further three years. Basically, we ask you to check your products regularly to ensure that the data is up to date.
Communicating commitment to sustainability
The unique six-digit registration code which is assigned on product registration presents a direct route to all information regarding the product for the manufacturer and interested parties. This can be found on the DGNB Navigator label. The label can be used on the product and/or packaging, but also on all product-specific communication materials. It supports the manufacturer in sales, reaching the intended target audience and with positioning the product in the market. Detailed information on using the label can be found in our Styleguide.
For publicity purposes, manufacturers have the option to have their DGNB Navigator label presented by DGNB representatives at the BAU trade fair in Munich. If you are interested, please contact the DGNB marketing team (marketing@dgnb.de).

Relevance of construction products in the DGNB System
Construction products make a significant contribution to the sustainability of a building. DGNB Auditors, architects and planners can find that the relevance of products is given in more than half of our criteria, either directly or indirectly. This means that the correct choice makes a real difference.
Fees
The use of the online platform is free of charge for DGNB Auditors, architects, planners, designers and all parties interested in the DGNB Navigator. Fees are only charged for placing products with general product information and data relevant to the DGNB Certification System within the DGNB Navigator. Special rates apply to DGNB members.
